The first installment of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle trilogy, subtitled Akaza Sairai, has officially ended its theatrical run in Japan after an impressive 266 days. The film has been a massive box office success, selling over 27.4 million tickets domestically and grossing more than 40.2 billion yen (approximately $252.5 million USD).
Globally, the film has achieved even greater numbers, with a total of over 98.5 million tickets sold worldwide, generating 117.9 billion yen (around $740.5 million USD). This success positions it among the highest-grossing anime films of all time. The film previously surpassed Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away to become the second highest-earning film in Japanese box office history.
Akaza Sairai has also garnered significant critical acclaim, securing the Best Animated Film award at the 49th annual Japan Academy Film Prizes and the Animation of the Year award at The Tokyo Anime Award Festival. It also received nominations for its performance at the Golden Globes and Saturn Awards.
While its main theatrical run has concluded, Akaza Sairai continues to be screened in select theaters across Japan. The film's initial release in Japan was on July 18, 2025, with subsequent screenings in North America and other regions, including a debut on SCREENX multi-projection screens.
