NEON has unveiled the final English-subtitled trailer for its North American release of the live-action film adaptation of KOTAKE CREATE's horror game Exit 8. The film is set to premiere in North America this Friday.
The trailer drop follows the film's successful Japanese debut in August 2025, where it secured the #2 spot in its opening weekend, earning approximately US$6.46 million in its first three days. By October 19, the film had amassed a cumulative total of over US$32.10 million in Japan.
Exit 8 made its global debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2025, where it received an eight-minute standing ovation. The film's poster also garnered recognition, winning the Cannes' Prix Luciole poster competition.
Directed by Genki Kawamura, known for his work on your name. and Suzume, the film stars Kazunari Ninomiya in his first collaboration with the director. Ninomiya is recognized for his roles in live-action productions like Letters from Iwo Jima and Gantz.
The Exit 8 game, developed by a one-person indie studio, traps players in an endlessly looping subway passageway where they must identify anomalies to escape. The game, originally released on PC in November 2023, has since expanded to PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and VR platforms, with mobile versions also available. Videos related to the game have collectively surpassed 100 million views on YouTube.
