Fans of the long-running Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time franchise can look forward to a new anime entry. The series, which began its life as a popular otome game before receiving an anime adaptation, centers on Akane Motomiya, a modern-day girl transported to a fantasy world where she must protect it from demons with the aid of eight powerful guardians.
This latest project is a sequel, though details on its specific placement within the franchise's timeline and which characters will feature are still forthcoming. The original anime, Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time – A Tale of the Eight Guardians, aired in Fall 2004 and was produced by Yumeta Company. It has since spawned several OVAs, specials, and side stories, all exploring the adventures of the Dragon Priestess and her devoted Hachiyou.
