In a surprising display of international diplomacy and pop culture appreciation, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and French President Emmanuel Macron engaged in an April Fool's Day-adjacent moment, performing the iconic Kamehameha wave from the Dragon Ball series. The playful gesture took place during a joint news conference held in Japan, with Macron sharing a video of the event on social media.

The French President's official X (formerly Twitter) account posted the clip, captioned simply "Fusion!". Following this demonstration of cross-cultural camaraderie, the French Embassy in Japan also joined in the fun, sharing a photo on April 3rd of its staff performing the signature attack. This was done in honor of Macron's visit and to celebrate the friendly diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Macron has previously shown his affinity for the Dragon Ball franchise. In March 2024, following the passing of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, the French President shared a touching tribute on social media. The post included an illustration gifted by Toriyama, depicting Son Goku and Majin Buu, accompanied by a message honoring Toriyama and his global fanbase.
