Director Joon-ik Lee, celebrated for films like The King and the Clown and The Book of Fish, is set to direct a short-form live-action adaptation of the webtoon Father's Home Meal. Filming has wrapped, and the series is now in post-production, with a planned release for the latter half of 2026 on Lezhin's new short-video platform, Lezhin Snack.
This project marks Joon-ik Lee's first foray into short-form drama. The Father's Home Meal adaptation will center on a family whose dynamics change when the mother can no longer cook, prompting the father to take over the role. The original webtoon by Gorita explores family bonds and generational emotions through the lens of food. The series aims to condense these themes into character-driven episodes suitable for the short-form format while preserving the original work's emotional tone.
The cast features Jin-young Jung as the father, Jung-eun Lee as the mother, and Yo-han Byun as their son. Lezhin Entertainment developed Lezhin Snack as a platform dedicated to webtoon adaptations, leveraging their expertise in IP expansion and in-house video production. Kidari Studio is also supporting the production, bringing its experience in film investment and content creation to the project.
Lezhin Snack, which launched in January and is available in English, has already announced 10 other webtoon-based series. While an English version of the Father's Home Meal webtoon is not currently available, the platform's focus on adaptations suggests a growing market for these visual translations of popular digital comics.
