The slice-of-life anime Ichijōma Mankitsu Gurashi! (Living Life to the Fullest in a Tiny One-Tatami-Mat-Sized Room) will be available to stream internationally on April 12, REMOW confirmed. The series, also listed under the title Ichijyoma Mankitsu Gurashi!, will stream across multiple platforms, including Rakuten VIKI in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia, among others. OceanVeil will also carry the series in the US and Canada, while ADN will stream it in Europe. Additionally, the It's Anime YouTube channel is set to broadcast the series globally, though some territories may experience restrictions.
All platforms will receive the first episode on April 12. Following the initial release, subsequent episodes will stream on Rakuten VIKI, OceanVeil, and ADN shortly after their Japanese broadcast. The It's Anime YouTube channel will receive new episodes one week after their initial Japanese airing. The anime is set to premiere in Japan on April 11 at 26:00 (effectively April 12 at 2:00 a.m.) as part of the "Animazing!!!" block on ABC TV, TV Asahi, and affiliated channels, with a run on BS NTV also confirmed.
Directed by Toshinori Watanabe (Tokyo Ghoul:re) at PRA, Ichijōma Mankitsu Gurashi! features character designs by Fumiya Uehara. Yayoi Tateishi is handling sound direction, with music composed by MONACA. The production staff also includes chief animation directors Minefumi Harada, Yūki Yabata, and Saori Sakiguchi, alongside costume design by Michiko Ōtani, art direction by Harumi Nakazato and Maika Hosoda, and cinematography by Yasushi Kimura.
The story follows Meiko Morita, a high school student who transfers to Amamiya Girls' Academy in Tokyo. Instead of a dorm, she finds herself living in a cramped one-tatami room at a manga café called “Hedgehog,” which doubles as a shared dormitory. Meiko's life takes a quirky turn as she navigates her new surroundings and the eccentric residents.
The anime is based on Hisamakumako's manga, which began serialization in Manga Time Kirara in December 2018. The series' fourth compiled volume was released in July, with the fifth volume scheduled for May 27. The opening theme is performed by Sophià la Mode, titled "Ciao Ciao," while the ending theme, "Yawayawa Nerd Chō FreQuency," is performed by Mugendai Mewtype from the BanG Dream! franchise.
