Nintendo is bringing the beloved rhythm game series back with Rhythm Heaven Groove, slated for a July 2 release on Nintendo Switch. The announcement came via the Nintendo Today! app, confirming the new entry in the long-running franchise.
Fans will be pleased to know that Tsunku♂, the original producer and composer for the series, is returning to oversee the music for Rhythm Heaven Groove. Accompanying the announcement, Nintendo shared a brief video highlighting one of the game's rhythm minigames, titled 'Slice N Dice Kitchen.'
The series' last major installment, Rhythm Heaven Megamix (known as Rhythm Tengoku: The Best+ in Japan), launched in 2016. That title featured over 100 minigames, drawing from previous entries and introducing new challenges. Western audiences previously received Rhythm Heaven for the Nintendo DS in 2009 and Rhythm Heaven Fever for the Wii in 2012.
