The Taiwanese live-action adaptation of the popular webtoon Itaewon Class, titled Fired Up!, is set to premiere on HBO Max on July 31. The series reimagines the original story with a Taiwanese cultural backdrop.
Fired Up! follows Luyong Zhou, portrayed by singer and actor Eric Chou, as he seeks truth about his father's death and defends his family's restaurant. Chou is also contributing to the show's soundtrack. The cast includes Angela Yuen as a character based on Yi-seo Jo and Sean Lin as a character inspired by Geun-won Jang.
The original Itaewon Class webtoon by Gwangjin, which ran from 2016 to 2020, has amassed over 430 million views. Its success led to a highly popular Korean live-action drama in 2020 and a subsequent Japanese adaptation, Roppongi Class, in 2022. The webtoon is available in English on Tapas, and the Korean drama can be streamed on Netflix.
