Toei Animation has announced a new anime adaptation covering the initial 194 chapters of Akira Toriyama's seminal Dragon Ball manga. This series will revisit Goku's childhood and formative years, from his meeting with Bulma to his early martial arts training and adventures.

This new project centers on the original Dragon Ball narrative, distinct from its blockbuster successor, Dragon Ball Z, which followed Goku's adult life and battles. Fans will experience the comedic and adventurous roots of the franchise that laid the groundwork for all subsequent stories and characters. The original Dragon Ball anime, also produced by Toei Animation, ran for 153 episodes from 1986 to 1989 and achieved a MAL score of 7.98.
